“Children make progress while living in the home. This includes developing their confidence, establishing healthy relationships and understanding and developing their emotional maturity. Social workers and children’s families are extremely positive about the care provided to children by the staff team.”

On site is an integrated specialist school for children who reside in the home to attend. Parkview has been operational for several years as an SEMH service then changed its to an ASD home which became operational in March 2024. Parkview was rated good by Ofsted in December 24, in its first full inspection under the new statement of purpose. Careful consideration has been given to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, that meets their induvial and sensory needs. An Autism Specialist was consulted on the home prior to the refurbishment ensuring the spaces and rooms were tailored for children with Autism or learning difficulties. This has ensured that children live in nurturing home that needs all their individual needs. They specifically benefit from the outside spaces, relaxations zones and the sensory space with specialist equipment for our children including interactive bubble tubes, special lighting and sensory solutions that transforms into immersive sensory experiences. Parkview’s ethos is to provide individually tailored Care, Education and Therapy packages. Providing care that will help children within our home to develop both the social, emotional and life skills that will enable them to live safely and productively in the community. We provide a homely environment in which they feel welcomed, cared for and accepted and championed at everything they do. We celebrate every small win for our children, small milestones or success and have their best interests at the heart of everything we do. Our on-site school deliver a personalised curriculum designed to meet each learner’s needs and aspirations, tailored and bespoke for each student. Regular MDT meetings are held with Education, Therapy and Care staff, taking a holistic approach to support each young person’s progress academically and socially. We also employ a range of specialists and consultants where needed to make certain all children’s needs are met; ASD consultants, speech and language and occupational therapy to compliment the multi-disciplinary team, as well working alongside local health teams and professionals. Therapy and our TAP (Therapeutic Authoritative Parenting) model for neurodiversity is fully integrated into the daily life at Parkview. Our in-house Senior Psychologist and the Therapy team provide individual sessions tailored to our children’s needs. They work closely with our care team and education staff, equipping them with specialist training and guidance so that the therapeutic principles are embedded across all interactions. This collaborative approach ensures we address emotional and behavioural challenges effectively and consistently and ensures a psychologically informed environment. Our aim at Parkview is to make everyone aware of the thing’s children need to help them to be happy, successful, healthy and safe, actively encouraging learning and development. Leisure time is an important element in the learning and growth process for our children. It also affords the staff time to spend constructive periods with the children that can greatly help in the development of positive relationships, providing specific activities for them either individually or within a group. Our staff team is built upon experience, equalities and skills to create the maximum opportunities for the support and guidance of our children. Our staff team are dedicated to attending training on a regular basis to improve their knowledge and skills. At Parkview we pride ourselves on our Holistic, Child-centred and Therapeutic approach with our children. We are dedicated to progress and positive outcomes and life opportunities to enrich our children’s lives.

Homes

Our ASD homes have been modified to meet individual needs and to be able to achieve the best outcomes for young people. The homes have been modified in partnership with a number of consultants in Autism to help with the planning process, including looking at lighting, acoustics of the building, layout, fittings, fixtures, colours, resources and sensory needs. Some examples of the modifications made are the adjustable lighting in the homes, which enables young people to have a choice around the level of lighting that meets their sensory need and secondly all baths are hydro powered to support and give choice to the young people to regulate sensory stimulation.

Education

Young people in our ASD homes attend the onsite school provisions, which deliver a bespoke and personalised curriculum to meet the needs of the individual, based upon their academic ability and their interests. The staff within the homes understand the importance of each child’s education programme and support them to develop transferable skills that can be used in many areas of their day to day lives. Our qualified teachers and teaching assistants have the skills and expertise to deliver learning to young people with Autism and they work closely with home staff to ensure that the needs of the pupils are met and that positive outcomes are achieved.

Therapeutic Interventions

Our ASD homes benefit from the support of our Specialist Therapeutic Service. Each home has a dedicated Senior Psychologist embedded within the home. This allows them to work systemically with the care and education staff, as one team. This enhances the knowledge of the factors that underpin the behaviours, and offers psychologically informed practise to support each child.
